Model Railway Show July 2025

Scarborough Mates was at the Model Railway display at Newby & Scalby Community Hall – And it was pretty busy! There were a lot of mates there to help out – particular thank yous to Chris Cammish, Brian H, Ted, Mike P, and Fran.

Mates Open Day 2025

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves at the mates open day, fellow Mates, helpers and visitors alike! The place was buzzing! gallons of tea and coffee were drunk and the cakes sold out REALLY fast! And what is more, the sun was shining too.

Workshop Refurbishment

Recently we had a review of the large machine tools and made some changes. We have a new table saw, thicknesser and scroll saw as a result. It was decided we should refurbish the workshop with new paint on the floor, walls and the ceiling. That is largely completed. The machines are all available to

2nd Potters Wheel

Scarborough Mates has recently obtained a second Potters wheel. It came in as a donation and is very similar to our existing wheel, so no issues in using it. The only difference is that it’s coloured orange instead of blue. Its available for use by ceramics mates as required.

2nd Tram Loco To Join The Fleet

Activity Room re-opens after refurbishment

64th Scalby Walk 2025

Mates members wrapped up warm on Easter Monday to help with the marshalling of the 6 mile Scalby Walk. Participants took the picturesque route through Scalby, Burniston, Cloughton, then along the Cinder Track, starting and ending at The Plough in Scalby.

Pie, Peas and Quiz Night 2025
Scarborough Mates 3rd annual quiz night took place at North Cliff Golf Club on 22nd January. Six teams of 6 people took part and a good time was had by all!

Christmas Day 2024 at Mates

About 30 people turned up to enjoy nibbles, mince pies and Christmas cake at No.8 A great time was had by all!

Scarborough Mates at Scalby Fair June 2024

Mates had a double stall at Scalby Fair, with lathe, Dremel, pyrography and scroll saw demonstrations, as well as a couple of games for people to play. There was also a wonderfully successful cake stall! It was a long and tiring day, but it was great to be part of Scalby Fair!
