Austin 7 Reconstruction

Lou Ratcliffe and Mike Pixton are into classic cars. They belong to the local classic car club. At Mates they are engaged in reconstructing an Austin 7. They have the basic chassis shown in the photo above, and want to turn it into something like the “blue racer” seen in the commercial photo below.

It’s going to take a while. Parts of the bodywork, dashboard and fittings are all at different stages of completion. For the bodywork and floor plan they made extensive use of CAD, (Cardboard Aided Design.)

After design, the floorplan construction is seen in the next photos.

They are also well on with the dashboard. The Individual parts once completed are being stored. They will come back together as a whole late in the reconstruction.

If anyone is interested in classic cars, or specifically Austin 7’s, the pair are usually available in Mates most Monday mornings. You are welcome to come by for a chat.
