Dave Wilkinson

Chairman

Dave has been Chair since February 2023. He worked for the Police service for 33 years then ran a Handyman business for 10 years. Hobbies include woodworking, art, canoeing, cycling and walking. Three daughters, three grandchildren and a great granddaughter ensure plenty of advisors!

Stacey Sutton

Treasurer

Stacey retired after working in commercial sales and admin at several companies around Scarborough. Enjoying the company of others, she was already a volunteer at Saint Catherine’s and Newby & Scalby Library before joining Mates as Secretary, and then Treasurer. Using her skills to help promote us, she also enjoys crafting with Mates.

Alan Ferguson

Ceramics Lead

Alan, a founder member of Scarborough Mates, is retired and married with 3 children and 7 grandchildren. His hobbies include cycling, ceramics and Scarborough Mates.

Derek Mathers

Vice Chairman

Derek grew up in Leeds and, apart from a few years in the south he had lived and worked entirely in West Yorkshire until moving to the Scarborough area in 2021. Almost immediately he became involved with Scarborough Mates. His previous skills transferred seamlessly to Scarborough Mates and are used in connection with members’ welfare, for which he holds overall responsibility.

Jon Woollons

Jon Woollons

Workshop Manager

 Jon has lived in the Scarborough area since 1979. Jon trained to become a secondary school teacher, starting work in 1977. He has lived in the Scarborough area since 1979 and taught locally until taking redundancy in 2004. He then started up and ran two businesses based in Scarborough, one providing electrical safety (PAT) testing, and the other a hire company for audio amplification systems. He ran these up until he decided to retire a few years ago, having reached state pension age.

Brian Mulvana

Trustee

Brian is a retired railway signal engineer who was born and raised in Scarborough. He is married with a fully-fledged daughter, a granddaughter, and a dog. Apart from Mates, he volunteers at a local nature reserve where he principally look after the cameras. Other interests include model railways, local history and local wildlife.

Judy Woodroffe

Trustee

Judy retired from the NHS in 2013. She has a husband, two grown up children, 2 dogs, a cat, 3 hens, and 2 bee hives. Hobbies include reading, creative writing (short stories and poetry), and pottering about at her allotment. As well as being a Trustee at Scarborough Mates she is also a Trustee at a local community library.
